Digging The Tunnel From Both Ends.
We launched a token yesterday: $DBCLAY. But not for the reasons you might think. We didn’t launch it to hype or speculate—we launched it to learn.
When we say db clay is a "creative research lab," this is an example of what we mean. We’re compelled to explore new technologies, especially those connected to the future of wallets and, by extension, how people conduct commerce and exchange value in this world. And what a fascinating world it is… So why not experiment by digging the tunnel from both ends?
🔹 On one end: We launched a physical Duct Tape Wallet Kit—something you craft with your hands. As analog as it gets. The opposite of tech, AI, or automation.
🔹 On the other: We launched a digital token—an entry point into an ever-evolving financial world. Launching this was an insanely illuminating experience.
The concept is that $DBCLAY becomes the official token for navigating the db clay universe. It’s early and very much TBD, but a few functional and emotional benefits are starting to take shape, for example:
1️⃣ Bundle tokens with physical product purchases—a reward and engagement token. Redeemable for discounts, limited editions, UGC incentives, etc.
2️⃣ Onboarding for the crypto-curious—a bridge for those exploring digital ownership, especially younger generations born into a digital native world.
3️⃣ Community-driven product design—voting on new wallet concepts, colorways, collaborations. A co-creation model powered by the community.
Still early, still experimenting, still playing 🫠
