Chasing That Thing Inside of You.
Wouldn’t you know it—our first official BLOG post is a nod to the short film we created to officially “relaunch” db clay. It’s a film about the past, present, and future of our wallet company. It’s a film about our founding story. It’s a film to commemorate our more than 25-year journey in the wallet headspace. But it’s more than that.
“BEGIN—AGAIN emerges as a quietly profound meditation on the arc of creation, collapse, and reinvention. At first glance, it’s a chronicle of one entrepreneur's journey from handcrafting Duct Tape Wallets by the thousands—humble objects that once sparked a global brand—to watching that company disintegrate under the weight of misguided ambition, bad timing, and rookie mistakes. Yet beneath this tangible history lies a deeper, universal pursuit: the search for who you were, who you’ve become, who you’re meant to be.
Weaving together past experiences and future visions, this short, docu-style film transcends autobiography and material markers of success. Instead, BEGIN—AGAIN invites us to listen to that still small voice that prompts us to chase that thing inside of you—to embrace the restless curiosity that compels us to break old molds, navigate new paths, and reframe our concept of identity, meaning, and purpose on our own evolving terms. In the end, it isn’t what we make that defines us individually, but how the simple act of ‘creating’ can connect all of us.”
This film is special to me for obvious reasons. I offer it up with a healthy dose of pride and vulnerability. This is a film I had to make. I just had to. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m just getting sentimental in my old age. Maybe I just needed to get the led out, as they. Maybe… it made itself?

Thank you for taking 03:20 out of your day to inhale this piece—it means a lot to me, if it means something to you. And thank you to everyone involved in this non-traditional project. In the coming weeks, I’ll be doing proper shoutouts to the various collaborators who made this film possible.
I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
